My last post brought back memories of long road trips.
In the fall of 1992, my husband and I drove out to California from Worcester, MA making many stops along the way.
We enjoyed one particularly beautiful sunset, following a hour of thunderstorms, driving westbound on I70 through Kansas. The road was flanked on both sides by fields of sunflowers — stretching as far as the eye could see — and all facing west with their heads turned downward.
It looked like a multitude of bonneted women at prayer.
Quite a sight.
