Sunset hieroglyphics

I see a lot of this in my West Seattle neighborhood in the hour before sunset at this time of the year.

Rays of the setting sun are reflected from west-facing windows of upper floors of buildings — and through balcony structures, plants etc. — to land on east-facing walls as mysterious illuminated shapes.

I just happened to walk by this rather marvelous example this evening.
