How many people in this picture?
by Radio Somewhere
This photo was taken on June 6 to mark the unveiling of the restored totem pole that stands in front of the Log House Museum (Alki, Seattle) at the right of the picture. I volunteered to count the people in the picture!
It wasn’t too hard really. I loaded the .jpg into QGIS and then created a separate layer in which to digitize a point feature over each person, panning and zooming as required. It was easy to see if anyone had been missed — and I didn’t have to do any counting. When I was done, I looked at the attributes for this layer and saw that there were 1257 features — so 1257 people.
Took me about two hours — and it was great fun:)
